Departure

Tomorrow, late at night, I leave for the airport and my adventure begins. I can hardly believe that this is happening to me...that my dream that I've held since I was in sixth grade is coming true. I'm nervous, but not too much, and I think that's because I have no idea what it's going to be like. I'm excited, and it's sinking in more deeply as each hour passes.

Last Saturday, after a tremendously magical vacation together in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, my partner Kevin and I said goodbye at the airport. This is probably the biggest transition for me, because Kevin and I have only ever spent two weeks apart in our 14 month relationship. It was very sad and difficult, but what's greater than my sadness is our love, and I see us making it through our time apart. Kevin left for MIT in Boston, and I came back to Colorado Springs. He has begun his adventure there and I am excited and happy for him.

This week has been full of preparations. I made a big list at the beginning (I'm a big list girl) and now I'm down to just a few more "to do's". It's quite hard to believe I'm leaving so soon, but my bags are getting full and my heart is beating faster, so I guess that makes it a little more believable.

I am so grateful for this opportunity. I am grateful that there is financial aid that makes this possible, and for all the gifts I have received from loved ones over the past couple months. I am so blessed. And here I go, on the adventure of a lifetime. I have no doubt it will change who I am.

Donc, bon voyage a moi!
